Today’s 3D Thursday has a bit of a twist to it! As you can see from the image above, I am part of this month’s Googler’s Design Team ?? I feel truly honoured.
What does this mean? Basically I continue with my blog and original design but Sam Hammond, from Pootles Papercraft who is my upline’s upline, has selected four people from her team and given then a stamp set to use in their projects for one month. The stamp set this month is Lovely Stitching, which is great as a set on its own or as an accompanying set.
So, my design today is……
….an Exploding Birthday Box Card.
I have always wanted to have a go at making one of these but never got round to it. As I previously mentioned, the Lovely Stitching can be used an as accompanying stamp, and that is what I chose to do on this one. You will see as I add the individual images of the panels how I used the stamp.
So let’s get down to making it, which actually was really easy.
The box itself is 12 x 12 Dapper Denim card stock. I scored 4″ on all sides then simply fold, burnish and cut away each corner square so you are left with a ‘+’ sign.
On the outside I layered Moroccan DSP and also used a layer on the bottom inside.
The inside sides were simply decorated with varying shades of blues, red, yellow, orange and green. I used Endless Birthday Wishes, Confetti Celebration, Number of Years and Lovely Stitching. All were stamped onto Very Vanilla card stock.
As you will have noticed, I also used Layering Circles and the Decorative Label Punch.
On the base, over the DSP, I added a small square of Very Vanilla stamped with 40 and ‘Happy Birthday’ then I used a piece of Window Sheet, scored across one end, which was burnished and added the Silver Heat Embossed ’40’ that I die cut out with Large Number Framelits. I love how it just pops out of the centre.
The lid is from a sheet of Dapper Denim that measures 6″ x 6″ and is scored at 1″ on all sides. DON’T FORGET TO ADD A PIECE OF CARD STOCK TO ACT AS A SHIM WHEN YOU SCORE. Fold and burnish the score lines and cut the tabs for the sides but don’t adhere yet.
Before adhering the tabs of the lid you need to decorate it. I used a layer of DSP then a layer of Very Vanilla. I stamped various words from the Endless Birthdays stamp, in various colours.
I used Many Marvellous Markers to colour in Happy Birthday which was then punched out with the Decorative Label Punch. I adhered this with dimensionals and the adhered the tabs to create the lid. Exploding Box Card Complete.
Of course, you can add as many embellishments, images, tags or tassels as you wish. So long as the recipient loves it, it doesn’t matter and remember, have fun.
Thank you again Sam for the opportunity.
