Birthday Balloons and Stakes

My daughter asked me to make her friend a card for her 20th Birthday. Most of the cards I make are generally for mature recipients, so to make one for a 20 year old was a bit of a challenge, however I made this one and both daughter and friend were very pleased with it.

I really enjoyed using bright colours and the Cherry On Top DSP has plenty of those.

I started with a Whisper White base and layered that with Cherry On Top DSP. I then used the Handpicked Framelits to cut out the ‘Stakes’. I cut them out in Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush, Crushed Curry and Whisper White. The inks used were Tip Top Taupe, Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush and Crushed Curry.

You may notice that some parts on the stamped image are glittery. This was the clear Wink of Stella pen. It added just enough glitter for what I wanted. I also used the white uni ball gel pen to add dots to the slice of cake and accents on the balloons.

The large balloons were stamped using Watermelon Wonder and Crushed Curry and the Stamp set Balloon Celebration. They were then punched out with the co-ordinating punch.

The small balloons were punched from the balloon punch in the party punch pack. To add the tails I rolled the end of a piece of linen thread in a glue dot and adhered it to the back of each small balloon. A dimensional cut in half was put on the back of some, a glue dot was put on the others.

All the parts were adhered to the card base, again with either dimensionals or glue dots.

This card used a lot of different colours, punches, framelits and stamp sets but it all went together quite well. I’m sure some of the parts could be replaced by something else if you don’t have all the bits I used. It really was nice to make a bright, bold card for a change.
