Gatefold for men

We all know how difficult it can be to make a nice card for the men in our lives. I had to make one recently and had a look around some other sites to get some ideas. I have to confess that the basics of this were from a card I saw on Pintrest. I have adapted it slightly for what I wanted but I am really pleased with it.

The base is Chocolate Chip, layered with Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla. Again, the brown range of colours I use less frequent , and yet I don’t know why. As soon as I put this together I just wanted to use them some more. The tones go really well with each other.

The back ground stamp on the two ‘gate’ panels is from the large stamp, Hardwood. It was stamped in Sahara Sand. I have then wrapped some Linen Thread round the bottom and actually tied it round the back but you could leave the knot at the front for more texture.

The front panel was Chocolate Chip layered with Very Vanilla and a length of Burlap was placed on the front with a double length of Linen Thread tied in a bow at the top. The sentiment was stamped onto the Very Vanilla using the Number of Years stamp set. This was punched out with the large oval punch. The Chocolate Chip was punched out with the Scalloped Oval punch. Both were adhered with dimensionals. The front panel was adhered with snail, just half on one side.

On the inside I layered a piece of Very Vanilla but as it was quite a large piece it needed something stamping on it. I thought the ideal stamp would be a tree, as this went with the wood on the front. The two stamps I used were from Lovely as A Tree. They were stamped in Sahara Sand.

I really do like this card and I really enjoyed making a Gatefold card, just for a change.

Don’t forget to keep plenty of snail, dimensionals, glue dots and fast fuse in stock. It’s surprising how much you use when you are layering.

Happy Crafting Everyone.
